You must have heard a lot about Mahatma Gandhi. To know more about the life and times of this great man you need to visit Ahmedabad. Also known as the Manchester of the East, Ahmedabad presents an exciting blend of ancient heritage, rich culture and highly developed state of affairs. Bhadra Fort:
Spread over an area of 44 acres, the Bhadra Fort is well known for its lush green gardens and beautiful pavilions inside. The intricately carved Teen Darwaza, which served as the royal entrance is a marvelous piece of art work. Inside the rooms you get to see the antique furniture and huge portraits of Sultan Shah Alam, his family and associates.

Mata Bhavani’s well
This is another unique construction of the bygone era. This sacred well comprises staircases that descend to the east.  It is beautifully decorated with brackets, columns, intricately, panels and designed arches.

The Shaking Minarets:
If you shake any one of the 3 minarets the others start vibrating. However their connecting passage remains unaffected. This is the famous and enigmatic Shaking Minarets of the city. Few structures can match the architectural marvel of this monument. Each of the 3 strayed tall minarets is embedded with intricate designs. The minarets also carry stone balconies which are 21.34 meters high.

Dada Hari Vav
This is a wonderfully designed octagonal shaped step well in Ahmedabad. It is meticulously sculptured with floral patterns and shapely figurines.

Sabarmati Ashram:
If you wish to see the documents, memorablia and letters of the father of the nation, you need to visit the Sabarmati Ashram.  It was here that Mahatma Gandhi spent most of his time. A light and sound show in the Sabarmati Ashram, will tell you in details you of the lifestyle, teachings, and struggle of Gandhiji.

The Tomb of Ahmed Shah:
This splendid structure is famous for its artistic craftsmanship, latticed windows, domes and minarets. All these together lend it an exquisite look
The Calico Museum

Located amidst acres of sprawling greenery this is a textile museum with collection dating back to five centuries. Most of the fabrics of India was spun, woven, and painted here.

The Kite Museum:
You won’t come across such a museum anywhere else in India! The collection includes endless variety of kites with different design, prints and made from different types of materials. The hexagonal shaped Japanese kites are also showcased here.
